FINANCIAL ANALYSIS OF BENENG TARO FARMING

Beneng taro (Xantoshoma undipes K. Koch) appears as an alternative carbohydrate food to replace rice. Through food diversification, beneng taro plants can become one of the food variants available on the market. Taro beneng has a pretty good nutritional content, including 2,01% protein, 18,30% carbohydrates, 0,27% fat, 15,21% starch and 83,7% kcal calories. Taro beneng cultivation tehniques using agroforestry patterns can produce better quality than monoculture cropping patterns. This study aims to analyze the cultivation techniques and determine the financial feasilibilty of taro beneng farming based on NPV, Net B/C, IRR and in what year the invested capital can be returned (Pay Back Period). This research uses a case study method by taking one respondent who is a successful farmer and a leader in developing taro beneng in Cibalong District, Tasikmalaya Regency. This results showed that: 1) Taro beneng farming in Cibalong District, Tasikmalaya Regency was declared financially feasible to continue with the resulting NPV (net present value) of Rp. 575.648.565 , Net B/C 2,48 and IRR 72,34%, 2) The length of time needed to return the investment is 1 year and 9 months, this the taro beneng plantation business is declared financially feasible.
